Selected Projects
We work in close partnership with nonprofits, foundations, public sector organizations, and socially conscious businesses, leveraging the power of data and insights to drive community impact. For more than two decades we’ve helped organizations evaluate and augment programming, align offerings with mission, and impact more stakeholders.
Community Chaplaincy / Community Health Navigator Evaluation (Topeka, KS)
Performing a mixed-methods evaluation of Mary Flin’s Community Chaplaincy ministry, which supports unhoused neighbors through spiritual care, case management, and community connection. We helped with:
- Survey design and data analysis
- Field research and participant observation
- Interview-based qualitative findings
- Logic model development and theory of change
- Dashboards and reporting for donors and stakeholders
This project blends quantitative data with rich narrative insights to help the ministry strengthen impact and communicate results clearly.
TUMI Prison Education Impact Study (6 prisons)
As the lead evaluator, I conducted a multi-year study of World Impact’s seminary-level theological education program (TUMI) across several prison sites.
The evaluation included:
- Surveys of 287 currently and formerly incarcerated students
- In-depth interviews exploring identity transformation and flourishing
- Statistical analysis and thematic coding
- A comprehensive report detailing program outcomes in well-being, leadership, and prosocial behavior
This work shaped the foundation for my book It’s Changed What I’m Living For.
Cities Flourishing: The World Impact Story (in progress)
A narrative history of World Impact, tracing six decades of ministry from Watts in the 1960s to a global movement of urban leadership development.
The work blends archival research, interviews, and fieldwork to tell the story of an organization shaped by presence, discipleship, and local leadership.
House of Mercy Reentry Ministry
Community Reentry, Supportive Housing, and Transformational Recovery
I am conducting a three-year mixed-methods evaluation for House of Mercy, a faith-based reentry and supportive-housing ministry that provides a stable, structured environment for people rebuilding their lives after incarceration, homelessness, mental illness, or substance use disorders.
House of Mercy’s model focuses on transformation, not charity. Residents receive a “hand up” through safe housing, relational support, and opportunities for personal, spiritual, and family restoration. The long-term goal is for each person to reclaim their roles as fathers, husbands, sons, brothers, friends, and community leaders.
My evaluation examines:
• Resident well-being and stability over time
• Themes of identity, healing, and family reconnection
• Organizational strengths and opportunities for growth
• Indicators of “flourishing” during and after participation
This project contributes to House of Mercy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen services and better support people seeking a second chance.
